Black & white Mixer

I really love the look of black and white images to portray a more dramatic look to my images. I've been playing around with light and trying to better comprehend its uses in creating emotion, in both lifestyle and landscape photography.

Laurie and Trevor are probably one of the sweetest couples I know...always laughing and smiling and their adorable kids have the same personalities. So to sum it up, my job as directing was pretty simplified...point & shoot...lol.

We opted on doing their family session in Fish Creek Park on one of the last warm days of the season.  Calgary is notorious for extreme weather changes in a very short period of time, so I was relieved that we were able to squeeze this in!

Griffin & Reide were so sweet, and a joy to photograph...bubbly, energetic..so much fun.

Power Family- Fall 2013

This is one of my favourite locations in the city- and there isn't a prettier time of year then Autumn to shoot a session here....

The colours are vibrant and majestic- just lovely.

I've known Ashley for many years now, and was thrilled when she asked me to take pictures of her wonderful family. We had a lot of fun creating these images- and I have to say, little Cameron was awesome, I just adore little kids & their funny little habits, Cameron's specialty was snapping his fingers. Lol...have you snapped your fingers lately? You should, I'd forgotten how something so simple can be pretty cool.

I can't say enough wonderful things about this family...so I'll just mention a few.

As far as dynamics go, they were all first rate 'POW'...these guys & gals had me laughing just about all the way through the shoot. 

Karen & Mark are probably the most down to earth couple I've ever shot...between the fantastic facial expressions, the 'prowling beast in the grass' moment, and my favourite goofy family pose towards the end (don't worry, I've included it here too, I couldn't resist..lol) I have to say, you guys take the cake. 

Thanks soooo much for a great time, seriously, I LOVE my job.

I love this this quote, and I think it truly encompasses the overall feel of this special family session.

Carla and I have been close friends for many years, and have seen each other through many of life's trials and joys.

This past year has brought on many changes for this family, and I really wanted to do something special for them.

When considering where to shoot their yearly 'family' session, I really felt that the 'light' had to be just right. And as all photographers know, there's no better light then in the evening, just before the sun sets...perfect.

No matter where we set up, it felt as though the light followed and lit them up beautifully & combined with their inner light, I felt a sense of peace and reflection through this session...
